Keyless Entry System
The key fob comes with an internal chip that enables it to communicate with the receiver module inside your car. If the key fob ceases to function suddenly, it's possible that the internal chip has been damaged. This can happen if you drop the key fob onto the floor, or if you've attempted to use an alternative key fob, but it's not working. If the key fob works it will send an indication to the receiver module informing it which door or trunk is open. Certain systems are intelligent enough to recognize a driver's specific fob and automatically lock once they leave the car.
The majority of Kia models come with a keyless entry system that includes a transponder key as well as a remote key fob. Transponder Chip Key
The transponder chip key is an automobile security device that transmits a unique code to the car's immobilizer when it's inserted into the ignition. The immobilizer will then block the vehicle's starter motor, fuel pump and any other system that could allow it to run if not for the chip's identifier code.
The key is made from metal with a cap made of plastic that houses the transponder. To remove the ignition key, you will need a screwdriver in order to get sufficient leverage. Once the key is removed, the user can see and remove the chip. it appears to be a small black square or a transparent tube. The chip is placed on an adhesive tape and connected to the ignition lock, close to the barrel that is used for ignition.
